Being a Part of SIS Cilegon 

SIS Cilegon? What is it?

As a starter, not so many people know about SIS Cilegon, so did I. As one of the members of the SIS group of schools, SIS Cilegon is the only international school in north Banten which is located in Villa Bonakarta, Cilegon. Implementing the greatest curriculum in international education, which are: Cambridge and Singapore curriculum. SIS Cilegon provides three levels of education: Nursery, Kindergarten, and Primary. As special as SIS Cilegon is, it is the first place at the beginning of my career path journey, a great company, great school, and a great work place where I did my first internship experience. 

How I hit the opportunity

A pretty long journey in reaching out this phase of my life, it was started on May 2021 when I get the information about job application as the Sales Promotion Girl of SIS Cilegon mall exhibition, in short I applied, did the interview and I got the chance, doing my very first job in my life. It was pretty tough for me, but I'm glad that I did and was the only one who got the chance. Not stopping there, SIS Cilegon did a couple of mall exhibitions again, and I always got the offers to join them in every mall exhibition they held.

This article is also dedicated to Mr. Seftiawan also known as Mr. Cepi, the executive marketing of SIS Cilegon. He is the one who never forgets me and always gives me the chance to get involved in every mall exhibition that SIS Cilegon had. I learned and gain a lot from Mr. Cepi, he gave and taught me so many things related to the job or even about basic random stuff in life, he shares experience, chance, knowledge, and insight to me, and I'm so happy that I know him. He was such a great mentor to me while I was in SIS, he provided me with lots of equipment I need in expanding my skill and my knowledge, thank you so much for everything Mr. Cepi.

Okay, back to the progress. After a couple of mall exhibitions I did, I got the information that SIS Cilegon is recruiting someone as an intern, with no single doubt I shoot my shot, and i’m beyond lucky and grateful that I was granted the chance to be the intern of SIS Cilegon, where the journey started.

What I do and my job desk

I’m honored with the position as Admin Marketing within a three months period of time. Here I assist the executive marketing in managing Customer Relation Manager (CRM) of SIS Cilegon which are: following up on information to both existing parents and applicant parents of SIS Cilegon. I also organize the database of sales and marketing through the apps or website used by the school. I'm so impressed by how the work system in SIS runs, they are well-organized and highly systematic. I work 5 hours a day for 5 days in a week with the blended attendance system, so I can do my job from home as well as from the office. I would say SIS Cilegon is very appreciative at accepting me as an intern, they treat me professionally as how it should be. I also joined a couple of the Open House events as one of the marketing and sales programs in the marketing plan. Branching out of the marketing field, i also assist in the admission requisite, I help in collecting data of the student and managing it by utilizing some of google workspaces.

Days I spent in SIS

I love being in SIS, a homey school and a nice environment supporting me on doing all my jobs nicely. I’m so excited to go to school everyday because the head teacher, academic head teacher, all the teachers and all the staff are extremely friendly and humble, plus i can see so many adorable children in the school, it’s always been my dream to be a kindergarten teacher but sadly I took a different path, rather than studying education now i'm studying in agriculture field, that’s fine tho, there’s so many ways to pursuing our dream and goals, people say. 

Likewise, the English environment in SIS gives me a huge exposure towards my personal English skill. I keep one sentence in my mind that says “if you want to be fluent in English, make it a habit and use it.” Being in SIS also helps me to keep using and improving my English skill because all the people there using English too and i'm not scared or even feel ashamed by trying to use my English, because people here are very supportive and encouraging me to do more.

I’m also blessed to be a part of SIS Cilegon, to do my very first internship experience as the beginning of my career journey. Since here I can learn and earn a lot of things I never had before, the amazing workplace and work system, friendly and nice people provides a good place for me to grow. Being in SIS also teach me how to get out of my comfort zone, I can say i’m a very shy yet quite person, I don't talk that much with the people I just know, but by the time being in SIS and working in marketing and sales field embolden me to do things more than I thought I only could. As well as learning that life is also molding differently from time to time, we need to jump to a distinct stone and keep doing it to keep the balance in our life.

What I gain

I surely can’t mention everything I earned from doing my internship in SIS Cilegon. Overall, I learned about so many things related to marketing and sales knowledge, beyond learning the theory of it. I also do the execution towards all of them, starting from scratch like creating the marketing plan and timeline, how to manage it by using CRM, and do the realization by executing some of the sales and marketing programs or events (open house and mall exhibition). Let’s say in SIS I learn by doing things, yes experience is the best teacher isn’t it?

After that, I also learned about digital marketing, how we use social media, website, and everything with an online basis to lift up our school through branding, creating awareness, and so on. For example, I learned about how to create content by wording, especially for Instagram use. What’s interesting and unforgettable, is that I learned about telemarketing techniques, which is totally out of my comfort zone. I'm struggling, yes I did, but I’m for sure learned and improved. It highly improves my interpersonal skills by implementing good communication skills. 

Beside that, I also learned about data management. We use Google tools and the school website while doing this. I learned a lot about all the features on maximizing the use of Google Workspaces such as Google Spreadsheet, Google Drive, Gmail, and many more. Not only that, I also learned how to manage the data through the website called “Academia”. Being in SIS helped me gain a lot of new skills and improve my existing skills, I'm so thankful.

To wrap it up, that’s how my experience being a part of SIS Cilegon as an internship. I’m so happy and blessed because I can learn and gain a lot of things I never had before, and improve my skill to build a better me in the future. It can't happen without the support of the people around me, big thanks to my mom, my brother, all my friends, Mr. Cepi, and all the people in SIS Cilegon, I highly hope we can see and work together again someday, see you at school!
